Pelenai is a series of photograms exploring identity, memory, and loss. These facial imprints suggest that identity transcends physical appearance, preserving traces of individuality within a shared historical and cultural legacy. This work reflects on the passage of time, evoking both presence and absence while ensuring that what remains is more than just ashes—memories, beliefs, and history endure. The series also responds to the Soviet occupation of Lithuania, acknowledging the erasure of countless lives and cultural identities. Each photogram serves as a silent testament to those lost, confronting the impact of oppression and the fragility of remembrance. This visual narrative invites reflection on the enduring consequences of history and the resilience of collective memory.
